Phases of the Moon

Students used flashcards, poster board, a lamp, and foam balls to represent the different positions of the earth, sun, and moon. Using the light, students were able to identify the phases of the moon. Students also used a moon lamp to look at the phases of the moon. Finally, students drew pictures of the phases of the moon and labeled them in their notebook.

Math Tiles

Montessori Math Tiles are introduced at the same time as the Montessori Bead Frames. The tiles are color coded to mark place values, the same as the bead frames. Students use these colored tiles and coordinating mat to represent 4-digit numbers and complete addition and subtraction problems.
